    Plan Ahead

We know how easy it can be to reach for a snack the moment the hunger pangs hit. That’s why a little forward planning can help. Think about your snacks in advance, and choose foods that contribute important nutrients to your diet. A crisp apple beats crisps every time!

  • 2.

    Watch Your Portions

Always take a moment to check the serving size and number of calories per serving on the nutrition information or the Guideline Daily Amount (GDA) on the front of package. It is important to know if you are eating more than the serving size so that you can work out just how many calories and nutrients you are consuming.

Remember drinks may provide calories too!

Can’t resist things like fizzy drinks, fruit drinks and take away coffees with all the fancy trimmings? Well don’t worry. Just remember that they all contain calories, and that you have to factor those calories into any weight watching programme. So don’t get hung up, get counting.

  • 4.

    Pack a snack

A great way to stop worrying about whether you’re going to be tempted by fattening foods during the day is to have a healthier option handy. So before heading out, remember to pack a snack so that you can satisfy your appetite without having to give in to more indulgent options. It may also help you from over-eating at your next meal!

    Be active

You’ve heard it before and here it is again. To be healthy we need to be active as well as eating a healthy balanced diet. Well, of course you do, but it doesn’t mean you have to transform yourself into a super-fit superhuman overnight. Our experts simply say that you should try to be active for at least 30 minutes a day five times a week.

    Keep smiling

To help protect your teeth remember to rinse your mouth with some water or milk after your snack. Don’t forget to brush twice a day as well – to help you keep that special smile.
