Anyone new to cycling who may be nervous about travelling on roads (be they busy or quiet!), my advice is to read and re-read the book Cyclecraft by John Franklin. It is the closest thing to a Highway Code for cyclists. It covers defensive cycling, road positioning and safety.
If you are a 'kerb hugger', you should definitely read this book. You will have a much more rewarding experience, be safer and more confident!
It is available from all good stockists including, of course, Amazon.

Cycling has helped me lose over 5 stone already this year. I had 14 years away from my bike when I'd convinced myself I was too unfit and the roads were too busy but I was so wrong!
I love the freedom of being able to zip along at speed under my own power with so little effort.
I'm a born again cyclist for life!

High peak trail used to be a railway line but is now a trail with stunning scenery.
Me and my family cycled from middleton top all the way to parsley hay and back. In total we cycled almost 23 miles, along the way we went through 2 tunnels. High peak trail is a great trail for begginers like me. Me and my family enjoyed it, mostley me because my mum and dad had done it before. I would reccomend High Peak Trail to families who would like to start cycling. Mainly becuase 90% of it is flat apart from one hill near the beggining. The whole bike ride was worth it because of the refreshments at Parsley Hay.
